Astronaut Reality Helmet

experiential, VR, tech innovation, press event, entertainment marketing

If you’re tasked with putting on a press event for legendary filmmaker Darren Aronofsky, you can’t just do a normal screening.

We were asked to put on an event for the premiere of his documentary, “One Strange Rock.” The show was designed to give viewers an astronaut’s perspective of Earth.

So we decided to give journalists the same experience of being in space, right in their seats. We created a first-of-its-kind VR headset built into a space helmet.

I concepted the project, worked with our innovation partners to design the helmet and wrote the film that runs inside the helmet.

We were rewarded with press, magazine covers, and Cannes Lions. We won Adweek’s Project Isaac Gravity Prize - for the best innovation of the year. But the best part was these helmets traveled to science centers, schools, and museums around the country, giving young people the opportunity to have a new perspective of Earth - from Earth.
